Better Sleep Through the 5 Senses – Hearing

Building on from where you left off! Our previous post talked about how to achieve great sleep by using light – or lack thereof – to your advantage.

Today is all about hearing. Too much noise can be a nuisance; just the right amount can help you get the best sleep of your life.

It seems intuitive that noise is a natural enemy of rest. Ideally, your bedroom should be silent.

But what if your neighborhood isn’t? The solution may not be what you think…

If blocking out sounds caused by heavy foot and vehicular traffic, neighborhood pets, and other typical distractions is not possible, try adding more noise to the equation…. white noise. White noise, a fan for example, can be just enough to counteract that which has kept you awake for all this time. If weather doesn’t permit fan use, try a white noise app instead. My personal favorite way to block out distractions is with a soothing water sounds playlist!
